The Problem
During my internship at Thinline, I noticed that the existing tools for time-tracking and project management didn’t align well with the team’s workflow.
Multiple separate systems were being used, which made it difficult to keep an overview of projects, hours, and tasks.
Existing solutions, such as Monday.com, either lacked the desired flexibility or were too complex for daily use.
There was a need for a lightweight, user-friendly tool that could adapt to the internal workflow.
The Solution
To address this problem, I developed my own prototype: Tuesday, a web application that combines time-tracking, task management, and team communication into a single, organized platform.
The core of Tuesday focuses on simplicity and efficiency:
- Time-tracking per task or project via a clear weekly view with 15-minute intervals.
- Automatic notifications for new assignments or updates.
- Insight into team activities through reports and overview pages.
By combining these features, Tuesday provided a compact alternative to existing tools, fully tailored to the needs of Thinline.
My Approach
As a full-stack developer intern, I was responsible for the entire development process, from concept to prototype.
I started by analyzing the existing workflow and translating it into a functional design. Then I built the application step by step, focusing on:
- An intuitive interface that is easy to understand.
- A flexible architecture so new features could be added later with ease.
- Scalable code on both front-end and back-end.
Result
The result was a working prototype that demonstrated how an internal time-tracking tool could look if tailored specifically to Thinline’s team.
Tuesday helped make time-tracking more transparent and provided a solid foundation for further development.
For me personally, it was a valuable learning experience where I gained hands-on experience in full project development, UX design thinking, and applying full-stack skills in a real work environment.
